May President’s Letter

Dear GSPOA members,

As many of us return to Cashiers for the season, I wanted to give you an update on your Board’s activities:

Infrastructure—Road and Water: A large tree fell the first week of April. Thankfully both Jim Milton and Alex were quick on the scene to cut some of it off the road. In the last two weeks Alex has chain-sawed the rest into smaller pieces and has arranged for those remnants to be removed.

We continue to have issues with the transmitters and relays from our water storage tank on Tree Top to the pump on Route 107. This has been an issue for years—seems like every time there is a serious lightning storm it disables the electronics. Without the relays, the pump doesn’t automatically turn on to top off the storage tank. We are working with the water company, Environmental Inc, to price some solutions that would eliminate this recurring problem. In addition, as we previously reported, most of the shutoff valves are no longer working and we are working on a budget to remedy this lurking problem.

Governance: The committee continues to move forward with the work that was done previously on updating both covenants and bylaws. We intend to get a draft copy to all residents before the annual meeting. Then the process of one-on-one discussion and feedback with you will begin so that we can incorporate changes and build community acceptance on the updated documents.

The vote to clarify your board’s tenure through the annual meeting in July of 2024 passed. The vote tally is available either from Ellen (Secretary) or from Cedar Creek Management Services.

Rybert Development: We have been actively engaged on the future proposed development of the Rybert property. Many of you attended the Zoom call with the developer (the recorded session has been sent to everyone in the community in case you missed it). We are lucky to have Jamie on our Board as she is heavily involved with Develop Cashiers Responsibly (DCR) as DCR, GSPOA and others attempt to shape the project. Since we border Rybert land, we have standing and have joined others with standing to ensure that our concerns are heard.

Fun!: In addition to the annual meeting and lunch on July 8th (Cashiers Library starting at 11am), Lisa and I are inviting you to a social at our home (60 Watch Hill Lane) on July 2nd from 530-700pm.

Your board is intent on communicating the work we are doing.

We cannot address concerns if we don’t know about them. My phone number is 904-612-6259, email gullmann@ullmannwealthpartners.comor just stop by the house (should be arriving around 24 June).

Glenn Ullmann

President
